The Decline of Decency: How COVID Cracked Courtesy and Sparked Vigilante Etiquette Justice

Imgflip

Honestly, COVID broke people's brains, in my estimation. Maybe it was the fear, the propaganda, the vaccines, the isolation, or something else, but people behave worse than ever in public.

Other Moms of young women and I were discussing how young men don't know how to date a young woman anymore, particularly one who doesn't have an Only Fans account. They are stumped about how to treat a girl with standards and how to actually court a woman.

Then, I saw this tweet and it just reminded me about a loss of courtesy overall in society.

I was sitting in a medical office waiting for my Mom to get out of a procedure a few weeks ago and a grown man was watching a movie on his phone in the lobby on full volume with no headphones. He was oblivious to bothering others. I literally considered going to the local CVS and buying the man some wired earphones because I couldn't hear myself think. I don't understand what is going through the minds of people.

I am totally a fan of returning shame to societal interactions. In this case, several people banded together to shame a woman. The power of a good crowd scolding is unmatched.

Those are the times one wishes they could pass gas very loudly so the person on the other end of the phone call thinks their friend was responsible for the blow out.

Clearly, being courteous has not worked. Oafs don't pick up on polite social cues. Apparently, there was no home training, so now the crowd will have to help these people understand.

This is the perfect name for it. Name them and shame them.
